1. Ecology and Environmental Sciences is a formally approved academic journal authorized by the former General Administration of Press and Publication of China and is publicly distributed both domestically and internationally, Its International Standard Serial Number (ISSN) is 1674-5906, and Chinese National Standard Serial Number (CN) is 44-1661/X. The journal primarily publishes original research articles and major survey reports in ecology and environmental sciences that demonstrate innovation and significance. It also publishes a limited number of reviews and perspectives that offer unique insights or theoretical contributions on key frontier issues in ecology and environmental sciences. The journal is open to submissions nationwide and worldwide. Submissions from experts and scholars in related fields, both domestic and international, are welcome.
2. All submissions must have a first author with a solid research foundation in the field of the manuscript or a related field. The journal currently does not accept manuscripts with first authors who are undergraduate students or students below the undergraduate level.
3. The research topic must demonstrate significance and innovation. The manuscript should present new findings, perspectives, theories and conclusions, or propose novel methods, thereby contributing to the relevant field and advancing research in a particular area. For studies involving geographical regions, the area should be large and representative. For studies focused on administrative regions, the area should generally not be smaller than a prefecture-level city.
4. Manuscripts should be concise. Each research article or review article generally should not exceed 8 pages (based on the journal’s layout; 8 pages correspond to approximately 16,000 Chinese characters). The main text should use font size equivalent to “size 5,” while figures, tables, and references should use “size 6.” Single line spacing may be used in the manuscript text. Only essential figures and tables should be included, and figures and tables should not be duplicated. Manuscripts should follow the journal’s recent formatting style (columns will be set by the editorial office during typesetting) and use standardized simplified Chinese characters.
5. Each manuscript should include both Chinese and English abstracts and keywords (the Chinese abstract is generally 450–480 characters; 5–8 keywords). For research articles, the abstract should cover the research objectives, key scientific questions, materials and methods (or study site and methods), results and discussion, and conclusions. For review articles, the abstract should include the scientific issues discussed, important concepts, significant research progress, as well as the author’s new perspectives, insights, and future research directions.
6. Figures should be created using computer graphics, and any text within figures should be concise. The size of figures or text/figure box should not be too large. Tables should use the three-line style. Auxiliary lines may be used if necessary. Vertical lines and diagonal lines should be omitted.
7. The journal strictly follows the national standards of the People’s Republic of China and requires submissions to meet a high level of standardization and compliance. This includes the correct use of national legal measurement units and symbols, accurate use of terminology, and proper citation of references.
8. References should be formatted according to the “Information and documentation—Rules for bibliographic references and citations to information resources” (GB/T 7714–2015). Except for dissertations, unpublished materials should not be cited. Authors should not cite references they have not read (the editorial office may request the original documents if issues arise). For references with three or fewer authors or editors, all names should be listed. For references with more than three authors or editors, list the first three followed by “et al.” Each reference entry must be complete, including the type of reference indicated in square brackets and correct punctuation. Examples of reference formatting are provided as follows:

Manuscripts should include, on the last page, a brief biography of the first author, including name, year of birth, gender, ethnicity, professional title, degree, and research interests, as well as landline and mobile phone numbers, email address, affiliation, detailed mailing address, and postal code. The source and number of any funding projects should also be indicated. The journal gives priority to publishing research results from provincial or ministerial-level (or above) scientific projects. High-quality, original experimental research articles are especially welcomed and given priority, as are review articles that provide unique insights or theoretical contributions on significant scientific frontier issues.
10. Manuscripts are subject to review and approval by the journal’s Editorial Board. Authors are responsible for the content of their manuscripts, but the Editorial Board and editorial office reserve the right to make edits. The author’s consent will be sought for substantial modifications.
11. Multiple submissions are not allowed. Authors will generally be notified of no-acceptance within approximately 60 days after submission (please check the author’s email). If authors wish to withdraw or otherwise dispose of their manuscript six months after submission, they should first consult the editorial office regarding its status. Manuscripts are generally not returned, so authors should retain a copy.
12. To support the operation of the journal, a publishing fee is charged (RMB _5300_ per paper within 8 pages, and an additional RMB 600 per page for any pages exceeding 8). After the manuscript is published, the author will receive a one-off remuneration and two copies of the corresponding issue.
13. The journal is indexed in CNKI, Wanfang Data, CQVIP, Chinese Academic Journals CD-ROM edition, etc. Articles are also made available online through multiple media platforms and distributed abroad via databases.
