Aims and Scopes

Ecology and Environmental Sciences (EESCI, ISSN 1674-5906), founded in 1992, is a academic journal co-sponsored by Guangdong Society of Soil Sciences and Institute of Eco-environmental and Soil Sciences, Guangdong Academy of Sciences. The editor-in-chief of EESCI is Prof. Shu Tao (academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences) and the executive chief editor is Prof. Fangbai Li. 

EESCI is issued at home and abroad. The goal of EESCI is to promote academic exchanges and the development of disciplines, serve as a scientific exchange platform for the ecological environmental protection in the world and the sustainable development of ecology, economy and society. EESCI mainly publishes original research papers and major research reports with obvious innovation and important significance in ecology and environmental science and technology at home and abroad, and a small number of review articles and opinion articles with unique perspective and theoretical achievements on major frontier issues of these two disciplines.


Peer-review System

As a strict peer-review journal, EESCI has developed over 4900 peer reviewers for the journal worldwide. Manuscripts are single-blind reviewed by at least three referees with the title of associate professor or professor in the same field. The referees provide detailed comments and recommendations to help the editorial board members arrive at the appropriate editorial decision. The strict peer-review procedure guarantees the academic level and raises the reputation of the journal. Meanwhile, the editing and proofreading system and peer-review system is constantly standardized and optimized. 


Academic Influence

After years of efforts, EESCI has a certain influence and reputation in the field of ecology and environmental science in China. EESCI is indexed in the Core Journals of China, the Core Collection of the Chinese Science Citation Database (CSCD), the Key Magazine of China Technology, the Core Academic Journals of China (RCCSE), and the Journal of Japan Science and Technology Revitalization Agency Database (JST) many years in a row. EESCI has received awards byThe International Impact Academic Journal of China (2013-2016, 2020) and “Outstanding S&T Journals of China” (2011, 2017, 2020)

EESCI makes high quality an imperative, and as a result it is currently ranked 4th-6th (top 8%) in a comprehensive evaluation in the category “Environmental Sciences and Technology of China” and 3rd in the category “Ecology of China”. EESCI is listed in T2 zone of “Hierarchical Directory of High-quality Scientific and Technological Journals in Ecology” organized by China Association for Science and Technology, namely international famous academic periodical.

According to the World Journal Clout Index (WJCI) Report (2022) of Scientific and Technological Periodicals, EESCI is ranked among Q1 of Agronomy, Q3 of Ecology and Q3 of Environmental Science and Technology.


Ethics Guidelines

It is essential that all who are involved in producing the journal conduct themselves as authors, reviewers, editors, and publishers in accord with the highest level of professional ethics and standards. By submitting a manuscript to EESCI, each author implicitly confirms that it meets the highest ethical standards.


Open Access

EESCI is a fully Open Access Journal through the independent website (http://www.jeesci.com) since 1999. Free full texts are published online earlier than printing version, and all articles of the journal from 1999 are available freely. Manuscript submission, tracking, and peer review process are completed online.


Copyright

Once manuscript is accepted by EESCI, the authors will be asked to sign the Copyright Assignment. By signing of this document, the copyright of the paper is transferred legally to EESCI, and the Editorial Board therefore has the authority to distribute its printed and electronic versions to related databases worldwide.


Author fees

Some fees are charged to maintain the journal’s operation, which includes publishing fee, review fee, color printing fees for maps and so on. The specific fee depends on the situation


Archiving

Anyone can access to main articles via the independent website, CNKI or Wanfang Data Base in the event EESCI is no longer published.


Revenue sources

EESCI income consists of the publishing fees and subscriptions, and there is not any advertising. Publishing fees or waiver status does not influence editorial decision making.


Direct marketing

Any direct marketing activities, including solicitation of manuscripts that are conducted on behalf of EESCI, are appropriate, well targeted, and unobtrusive. Information provided about the publisher or journal is truthful and not misleading for readers or authors.
